The 21st Awit Awards Coverage
The Philippine Association of the Record Industry, Inc. (PARI) held its 21st Awit Awards at the Eastwood Central Plaza in Quezon City last November 26, 2008.
Awit Awards, organized by the Philippine Association Of The Record Industry (PARI), once again recognized the Filipino musical talents, performing artists, producers and people behind the making of Filipino recorded music.
Being the prestigious and longest-running award-giving body of the Philippines, Awit Awards has five objectives:
1. To recognize exceptional works of music and the people working behind it;
2. To promote the Philippine music industry, artistry, and legacy;
3. To champion music making and production, at par with global trends and excellence;
4. To showcase talents in an event dedicated to music; and
5. To reinforce the fight against piracy.
PRE-AWARDING
Around 6:30 PM, Callalily and Pedicab started the pre-awarding program with powerful performance. Hosted by Richard Poon and Sitti, the pre-awarding revealed the worthy awardees for Best Inspirational/Religious, Best Christmas, Best Regional, Best Dance, Best Musical Arrangement, Best Vocal Arrangement, Best Engineered Recording and Best Album Package
To name a few awardees for this category:
Yeng Constationo's Salamat won the Best Inspirational/Religious.
A Perfect Christmas by Jed Madela got the Best Christmas Song.
Kuya Angee Rozul's Probinsyana was chosen to be the Best Engineered Recording. (Angee Rozul is my friend's brother) Congrats Kuya!
Anyway, the pre-awarding ended with a Samba performed by Eileen Sison of Guarana together with the sexy dancers from Escola de Samba de Manila. The men were drooling while the dancers moved their hips. I can't blame them as those girls really know how to move on the dance floor, or should I say on stage.
AWARDS PROPER
At exactly 7:45 PM, the stage lights were up again as 6Cyclemind and Sandwich performed a collaboration of Sandwich's Betamax.
Hosted by Christian Bautista and Nikki Gil, the 21st Awit Awards was a combination of award presentations and musical performances. Aside from 6Cyclemind and Sandwich, bands like Itchyworms, Sino Sikat?, Parokya ni Edgar, True Faith, Cueshe, Hale also rocked the night. Nyoy Volante, Julianne, and MYMP had a back to back to back acoustic session. While Richard Poon and Sitti serenaded the crowd. It was really a night of music.
The "Dangal ng Musikang Pilipino Award" by the Philippine Association of Record Industries (PARI) was given to Ms. Lea Salonga during the 21st Awit Awards Night. Karylle, Ronnie Liang, Aicelle Santos, Raki Vega, Nikki Gil, Christian Bautista, and Toni Gonzaga paid tribute to the multitalented Ms. Lea Salonga with her hits. Unfortunately, Ms. Lea Salonga was not there to accept the award. Instead, she prepared a short video for all of her fans, family and friends in the industry.
Yeng Constantion received several awards including Best Selling Album of the Year, Album of the Year, and Music Video of the Year. However, Yeng Constatinto is on tour with Gary V. Julianne also received several awards such Best Performance by a New Female Recording Artist and Best Performance by a Female Recording Artist.
Though most of the winners were not there to receive the awards, the 21st Awit Awards was a success. It was fun to be a part of this event.
Congratulations to all the winners !

Crushes Crushes and Crushes
This afternoon, I totally freaked out to see my husband reading my blog. The worst part is he was reading my post about my Sony walkman and my high school crush. Then he kept interrogating me about my crush 10 years ago.
He just stopped when we were watching the 21st Awit Awards. I can't blame him the show was really good and full of celebrities. (I'll blog the details later). Anyway, after the show I had a chance to have a picture taken with my celebrity crush, Christian Bautista.
I can't really stop myself from smiling. Even my husband is teasing me. He knows I have a crush with Christian Baustista.
Anyway, I have to get rest. I'm really really tired. I'll blog the event tomorrow. Good Night!

My first Sony experience is with my Sony Walkman
It’s really good to reminisce the past! Looking back, I can only smile to those silly things I have done. But what I can’t really forget is those happy times when I was in high school – the most memorable part of one’s life, agree?
Since during those good ‘ol days, mp3, mp4 and iPod, among others, were just in our imagination, all I have to boast is my Sony Walkman. I had it for more than two years. Talking about quality products….
Since I’m the only one, I think (lol), who had this “hi-tech” gadget that time, I instantly became popular at school and many befriended me. And guess what?! One of them is my crush…. (giggles). At that time, I really felt lucky to own a Sony Walkman, through it, I don’t need to swoon over him so he’d just look at me.

My classmates and friends are literally falling in line to borrow my walkman. Yes, that’s really true! (my school was just a small one and belongs to the “never-heard -schools”). When it’s my crush’s turn to borrow it, I’ll act as if I don’t like him to borrow it. I even told him that I can’t enjoy listening to my favorite musics/bands anymore because they’re always borrowing it.
Luckily, my strategy worked and he’d plea to borrow it. After some pleas and refusals, I would agree but on one condition. Of course, he’ll ask, “what’s that?” I just simply replied, “We share”. In short, we both listen to my Sony Walkman, and I, at that time, was very very happy to be with him, beside him, actually…
There were also some times where I’m not listening to my professor but to my walkman, instead. My crush would even sit beside me, we’d hide the walkman and share the earphones. Oh, that was heaven for me! Honestly, I’m giggling right now remembering those times (lol).
Those were the days… (sighs)… I just wish I still have my Sony Walkman now and not just those pictures…Actually, I lost it since we have been moving homes a lot of times, so it was misplaced. But what we have until now is the Sony VHS at my mom’s place and surprisingly, it’s still in perfect condition, though we seldom use it now due to the advent of a much sophisticated and multifunctional DVD’s.
Anyway, it (my Sony Walkman) definitely gave significance in my life just like the Sony’s World’s First World’s First Slimmest Camera with Optical Image Stabilizer: Cyber-Shot T77, which is not just slim and stylish but also handy that I can carry it anywhere, anytime especially during blogger's event like the Sony Expo event.
